Honda Insight 2011

Many car makers are now producing eco friendly cars like the hybrid and electric car. Honda has come out with a very affordable hybrid making it the cheapest hybrid cars in the market.

How much does it cost to own a hybrid? For the Malaysian market the Honda Insight is marketed at RM98,000 where the government is exempting hybrid cars from import duty for 2011 in order to promote hybrid and eco friendnly vehicles among Malaysian consumers.

What can customers expect from a Hybrid car? Obviously people can save on their petrol consumption. Very much depending on the driving style, a hybrid car owners can expect to see some saving when they switch to hybrid. Feedbacks from the existing owners suggested that a full 40 liters of petrol can last for 800 km for the Honda Insight or 20km/liter. A more realistic figure is about 17-18 km/liter and of course it all depend on the driving style of individual driver.

Toyota and Lexus too are introducing their hybrids which are a bit more expensive than the Honda but with a bigger engine. The Toyota Prius is priced at RM139K and the Lexus is about RM170K. This will give a better choice to customers to choose in th hybrid market as their are better range from an entry level hybrid to a better and comfortable to choose from.

Its time for us to think in protecting our planet and burn less fuels. Hybrid a definitely a good start for a new car buyer,
